On November 6th and 7th, Lansmont participated in ISTA’s European Symposium, hosted by Fraunhofer IML, located in Dortmund, Germany. Attendees listened to more than fifteen quality presentations over two days, focusing on issues related to Transport Packaging. Bart Feys, Lansmont's EMEA Area Sales Manager, serves on ISTA’s European Council and helped organize this 2012 event, while Eric Joneson presented as part of the formal program.
Fraunhofer provided a tour of their state-of-the-art facilities, highlighting their most recent addition, the Lansmont Load Stability Horizontal Impact Test System (HITS).
The Dortmund Fraunhofer location specializes in cargo securement research, solutions and expertise. Based upon documented regulatory requirements associated with cargo securement, Fraunhofer approached Lansmont to engineer and manufacture a test system that could replicate vehicle dynamics associated with sudden braking and emergency evasive maneuvers.
By creating the ability to simulate these measured dynamics in a controlled laboratory, Fraunhofer eliminated the need to perform both costly and time-intensive over-the-road testing.
